In India...
Robin Masih was born in 1959 in a small town in the state of Uttar Pradesh, and grew up in a middle class family. He and his wife Angeleena became convinced of the need to demonstrate their Christian values through social action in favour of the impoverished. On arrival in Rewari in 1984, they launched a programme of education for underprivileged children.
The project rapidly expanded, and the organisation ventured into new fields, notably medical aid and family welfare.
The team of personnel comprises qualified school teachers and health carers, office staff and farm labourers. While coming from various social and religious backgrounds, they are united by a common aim: love your neighbour! .
... and across the world
At first, the Rewari project depended solely on financial support received from friends in India. That changed in 1989 when, at a conference in Manila, “by chance” Robin met the late Paul Vandenbroeck from Brussels. A few months later, a support committee was set up in Belgium under the name of Rewari International.
In 2009 Rewari International became a cell-group of SEL Projets, which has provided a solid administrative framework enabling us to further enlarge our network of contacts – in Belgium and elsewhere.
The Rewari cell-group in Belgium comprises a dozen volunteers: Michael Bar, Ignazina Cannova, Olivier Compere, Monique Deppe, Sarah Douik, Françoise Ledune, Yoann Mahieu, John Mead, Raoul Righenzi and Jean-Pierre and Pascale Vandenbroeck. We wish to thank all those who encourage us by their donations, their enthusiasm for the project, their practical support or their prayers.
